I found a USB key in an ordinary sausage: at first, I thought the USB key had accidentally ended up in the food until I checked its contents.

At first, I thought it was some kind of metal or plastic. But when I carefully removed it, my stomach churned, and it was a USB drive—a regular USB drive—covered in bits of sausage. The thought made me sick. I’d already eaten from that package! How on earth did a USB drive end up inside a factory-sealed sausage?

Disgust gave way to curiosity.
I plugged the USB drive into my computer, not really knowing what to expect, and what I saw made my skin crawl. There was only one folder on it, titled “OPEN ME.” Inside, a single image: a photo of a man looking straight into the camera and laughing.

I dropped the mouse and sat there, staring at the screen, a shiver running down my spine. Maybe it was someone’s idea for a twisted prank, but who would go so far as to hide a USB key in food?

Now I’m torn between calling the police to investigate or throwing everything away and trying to forget what happened. Either way, I know one thing for sure, and I’ll never look at store-bought sausages the same way again.
