Homemade paste for burnt dishes

Anyone who cooks regularly knows how annoying it is to scrub burnt pots and pans. Instead of wasting your time and energy using harsh detergents, you can make a simple, inexpensive, and gentle homemade paste with common household items – baking soda, salt, and regular bar soap. The result is a powerful cleaning aid that does a surprisingly good job of removing grease and burnt-on stains.

Required ingredients

  • 3–4 tablespoons baking soda

  • 1–2 tablespoons fine table salt

  • 1 small bar of bar soap (e.g. Marseille or homemade)

  • A small amount of water

How to prepare the pasta

  1. Put the baking soda and salt in a bowl and add a little water until you get a thick paste.

  2. Grate the soap on a coarse grater.

  3. Place the shavings in a small pot, add a little water, and melt them over low heat, stirring to prevent burning.

  4. When the soap is completely melted, remove from heat and add the soda mixture, stirring vigorously until a smooth, uniform paste forms.

  5. Pour into a clean jar or plastic container and let cool. As it cools, the paste will thicken and become easier to scoop with a sponge.
