What happens to your body when you have your gallbladder removed?

🩺 Possible side effects

  • Mild chronic diarrhea  (in a small percentage).

  • Abdominal distension or gas .

  • Urgency to go to the bathroom  after eating fatty foods.

  • In rare cases:  post-cholecystectomy syndrome , which can cause pain similar to that of gallstones.


🍽️ Recommendations after surgery

  • Eat  small, frequent meals  .

  • Avoid very fatty or fried foods.

  • Drink enough water.

  • Gradually incorporate fiber to improve digestion.
