What on earth is this… I found it in my grandmother’s cupboard🧐🕰️

While rummaging through an old box hidden in the back of a cupboard, I came across a few unusual objects. Thin, bright, slightly shiny… At first glance, I thought they were strange cocktail stirrers or leftover Christmas garlands. Those little things you keep “just in case” but never use. But as soon as I picked them up, my attention was drawn: they were made of glass – fragile, almost poetic. Orange, yellow, green… each had a small, delicate hook. But what are they?

Puzzled, I shared the discovery with my grandfather’s uncle. His answer surprised me, and most of all, touched me. He laughed heartily and explained, as if revealing a hidden relic: “These are miniature vases for jacket pockets. For button cuffs.” Small vases? For jackets? I could hardly believe that such a thing existed.

At that moment, everything became clear: these thin glass tubes fit comfortably in a jacket pocket, with a drop of water that keeps the color fresh all evening. Such a subtle accent, a sign of extreme sophistication!

When flowers spoke more than words

In the past, these accessories were not just decoration. They carried meaning, delicate messages. Men chose a flower the way you choose words – a white carnation for a wedding, a scarlet rose for a date, an exotic orchid for a performance. Each choice had meaning. A flower on a cuff was like a coded sign, an unobtrusive recognition, a sign of tenderness.

Naturally, this miniature vase completed the ritual. It kept the color fresh, but most of all it conveyed a caring, unobtrusive and romantic lifestyle.

Where elegance meets soul

Today, style often favors convenience and speed – jeans, a T-shirt and straight to work. But this little find made me think. To remind myself that sometimes a modest detail transforms the entire look. That true elegance – the one that touches – lies in thoughtful gestures, often those that go unnoticed.

Little glass vases are no longer in fashion, it’s true. But their spirit remains. They remind us that beauty often lies in gestures that we think are gone.
